Palm Springs Wings Chapter 1116

Palm Springs, Bermuda Dunes, Thermal, Big Bear, CA

RUSS PADDOCK

Lions Youth Exchange has some 17 year old Leos here for 6 weeks. Weather was perfect. Plane was available so we took the Cessna 172 for a little journey. Did I mention it was sort of waarm? After climbing about 45 minutes, we managed to clear the summit of Mt Hood which is about 25 miles from 4S2, and has an elevation of 11,200. Then it only took about 15 minutes to get back to the airport. I found some lift on the south side of the mountain. Was a couple hundred pounds under gross. Was a great flight. Meet Elisa from Italy, my co-pilot and Lotto from Finland. passenger. Final mountain shot. Mt Hood in foreground, Mt Adams above right, Mt Rainier, at the wing tip, and Mt St. Helens hiding behind the pitot tube. Russ
